The National Lottery has wished an unlucky couple “best of luck for future draws” after they missed out on a £182m Euromillions jackpot.

University student Rachel Kennedy, 19, had her lottery account set up to automatically select her numbers and buy a ticket for each draw.

So she and 21-year-old boyfriend Liam McCrohan were astounded when those recogniseable digits – 6, 12, 22, 29, 33, 6 and 11 – appeared on the February 26 draw and they thought their lives had changed forever.
